Subtle. Discreet. Unrecognizable.
Rolex 18K Yellow Gold Oyster Perpetual Datejust with Sand Buckley Dial
The story goes like this. Ten years ago, John Buckley, a vintage Rolex dealer, took to the watch forums. At a time when collectors were most focused on Daytona Patrizzi and Paul Newman Daytona dials, John was interested in the less popular and less common Rolex dials with painted roman numeral markers. In an attempt at humor and self-promotion, John declared these dials were henceforth to be known as “Buckley” dials. It stuck. Over time, Buckley dials have become more popular as collectors started seeking out the exotic Buckley dials in a variety of colors. Today, outside of Rolex sport models, the Buckley dial is the only dial that is recognized with a moniker across the internet, in literature, and in auction catalogues.
The classic Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust is the perfect watch for all occasions. Sometimes a watch comes along that stops you in your tracks. It is unique, compelling, and unlike anything you have seen before. Featuring a rare and pristine sand colored Buckley dial with white roman numeral markers, matching gold hands, and perfect creamy pumpkin luminous plots, this watch is truly a work of art. At times, it seems like time stands still as you can hardly see the hour markers; at other times, the markers jump out as they contrast with the dial and 18K yellow gold case. This watch (reference 16018) features an 18K yellow gold fluted bezel, sapphire crystal, and Rolex automatic 3035 quickset movement. It comes fitted on a handmade brown alligator strap. A must for any Buckley Dial collector. Includes a letter of authenticity and one-year limited warranty on the movement of the watch from Veralet.
