Rolex 18K Yellow Gold Oyster Perpetual Day-Date President with Silver Buckley Dial
The story goes like this. Ten years ago, John Buckley, a vintage Rolex dealer, took to the watch forums. At a time when collectors were most focused on Daytona Patizzi and Paul Newman Daytona dials, John was interested in the less popular and less common Rolex dials with painted roman numeral markers. In an attempt at humor and self-promotion, John declared these dials were henceforth to be known as “Buckley” dials. It stuck. Over time, Buckley dials have become more popular as collectors started seeking out the exotic Buckley dials in a variety of colors. Today, outside of Rolex Sport models, the Buckley dial is the only dial that is recognized with a moniker across the internet, in literature, and in auction catalogues.
The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Day-Date is the pinnacle watch for any collector. It has been worn by some of the most iconic people in history. It is renowned for its 18K case, day and date functions, and timeless look. This is the ultimate in achievement. This amazing Day-Date watch (reference 1803) features a solid 18K yellow gold case and is one of the most collectible and sought-after examples available. It is a true time capsule. From the mid 1970's, this watch features a silver Buckley dial with black roman numeral markers and matching black hands. Silver is one of the least common colors seen on a Buckley dial. The case measures 36mm in size, is fitted with an acrylic crystal, and comes on the original Rolex 18K Yellow Gold President bracelet with fold over clasp from South America. This is the watch for the connoisseur who mixes classic with sporty and wants to achieve that subtle elegance of the Day-Date model with style. Includes a letter of authenticity from Veralet.
