Rolex 18K Yellow Gold Oyster Perpetual Submariner with Blue Gloss Earth Dial

The Rolex Submariner is iconic. Immediately identifiable by its design, shape, and look, the Submariner is the cornerstone of any watch collection. Although the vintage Rolex Submariner watches from the 1960s and 1970s are most commonly seen in stainless steel, these watches were made in 18K yellow gold as well. Originally created in the late 1960s, the 18K yellow gold Rolex Submariner (reference 1680) came with a black matte dial or a blue gloss dial. Over time, these watches take on a unique look and feel, often as a result of the environment and the way a watch is worn. The result is interesting and unusual dials with colors ranging from purple to copper to gold. This incredibly unique example features what we are calling a blue gloss “Earth” dial with beautiful blues and greens that mimic the appearance of the Earth. This watch from 1972 features an 18K yellow gold case and is accented with a bi-directional rotating bezel in blue and gold and a matching gold screw-down crown. This watch is fitted on a handmade beige leather strap. This watch is a must for collectors.
